Drake, The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara lead the race for the 2017 JUNO Awards, topping the list of nominees announced for Canada’s annual music prize. The Tragically Hip also earned multiple nominations, including for group of the year and rock album of the year for Man Machine Poem.
The Juno Awards will air live from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on CTV and CTV GO on Sunday, April 2nd.
Shawn Mendes, A Tribe Called Red, Alessia Cara, contemporary storyteller Ruth B, and alt-folk indie group The Strumbellas will be performing. This year’s show will also include a tribute to Sarah McLachlan, who is being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Michael Bublé is still slated to host the show, although his involvement has become uncertain since he and his wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, announced in November that they would put their careers on hold to devote attention to their three-year-old son Noah, who has been diagnosed with cancer.
